Obtains real bottom-line value by using predictive IBM Analytics solutions
PPL Corporation, one of the largest investor-owned utilities in the US, provides electricity for 10.5 million customers in the US and UK. Employing around 13,000 people, the company achieved annual revenues of USD 11.5 billion in 2014, and has won 38 J. D. Power awards for customer satisfaction.
With several major infrastructure initiatives on the horizon, including a large meter replacement project, PPL needed a better way to manage and analyze financial, operational and asset data.
PPL and IBM are collaborating on a three- to five-year project to develop the IBM® Data Model for Energy & Utilities. IBM is also providing analytics services to address immediate business challenges.
PPL can target infrastructure investments to improve reliability, cut operating costs and improve customer care. PPL predicts collection rate with 99% accuracy and has been able to identify and help 5,400 additional at-risk customers every month not to go into collections.
