Cathy McGennis contributed as a panelist in the All-Island Civic Dialog on Brexit

Cathy McGennis was privileged to have contributed on the East West Panel in the All-Island Civic Dialogue on Brexit, which was hosted by Taoiseach Enda Kenny on Wednesday 2 November last.

Politicians, business people, and representatives from Civil Society groups were among those that attended the one day conference which gave many of those affected by Brexit a chance to highlight the challenges and potential impact that they now face. Mr Kenny said Brexit was “the most significant economic and social challenge of the last 50 years” but was adamant that the benefits of the common travel area between Ireland and the UK would be preserved.

On the panel with Cathy, were Sally Mulready{Counsel of State}, Alan Barrett {ESRI} & David Mc Williams {Economist} – it was moderated by Susan Hayes Culleton. There were great insights from different civic dimensions shared and feedback was presented back to the Government. We are unsure of how the landscape of living with Brexit will be, but this is a great first step by the government to bring together the voices of the Island. Cathy was very happy to present the experience from a SME point of view.
